Learning 2.0

Dr. Dunne went over Web 2.0.

According to Tim O'Reilly
“Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the Internet as a platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform." (Wikipedia) Some examples are: blogs, wikis, podcasts, flickr, and RSS feeds.

In groups we developed sociograms and sociomatrices of a social networks such as a learning community.
In groups we used sociograms to calculate and analyze Social Network properties.

A constraint for a teacher instructing a student can be parents telling their kid/student to choose a career based on how much money one can make. The student may not take the course as seriously because they see it as part of a career their parents don't take seriously.

Wordle.net is a work of art not a technology. Take any text or group of words which create a tsunami. Mashup is a technology that puts together things in a lot of ways. Copyright, Creative Commands. Moodle- Course Management tool. Hosted- no installation necessary. Blog- WordPress, Google Blogger, Page Flakes, Aggregator- something that will take a RSS Feed, podcast- audio and video, Twitter, Virtual Worlds, GoogleEarth, Scratch- create high level, problem solving, math skills outside the context of a school.

Delicious, Marratech, Skpye, Operating Systems- Windows XP or MAC, MAC switched to an Intel chip, GHz is like an easy pass on the Washington Bridge, RAM- Random Access Memory, Drivers- programs that tell your computer talk to devices such as mouse, keyboard, Universal Serial Bus- USB, Desktop people are gamers, JAVA- computer program language, don't open .exe files (unkown user), Google Chrome, Google Docs overcomes Office 2007 problem.
